CONTEXT OF THE COLLOQUIUM

"FUTURE OF OASES  IN FRONT OF THE DESERTIFICATION"

The 58th General resolution of the Assembly of United Nations decreed year 2006, «International Year of deserts and desertification ". All the countries were called to celebrate this year by organizing activities allowing to increase the visibility of the particular problem of the dry regions at the national and\or international level. 

Morocco is a signer of the various agreements of the generation of RIO (biovariety, fight against the desertification and the aridity, the climate change) as well as the agreement RAMSAR. 

The ratification by Morocco, Agreements of United Nations as regards natural resources, development of natural resources. 

Experiences, the identification of the needs of the oases   of the Moroccan South in particular, in average and long term as well as the choice of the strategic options suited to answer it, allowed to establish the main tools of economic planning applied to different programs of intervention.

Besides the oases  of the Moroccan South (province of Zagora, Ouarzazate and Errachidia) were classified by UNESCO among the world network of the reserves of biospheres.

Several programs of actions are in progress and the others go to see the daytime during this year of 2006 and for several years. Let us quote for example the project of study "Evaluation of the Ecosystem Oasien of Tafilalet" made within the framework of the Evaluation of the Millennium (EM) and that of fight against the desertification and fight against the poverty by the protection and the valuation of the oases of Tafilalet.

This region of Morocco was identified as priority site of action within the framework of the application of the action plan of the regional monograph of Meknès Tafilalet elaborated by the Department of Environment of the Ministry of the Regional development, Water and the Environment through the National Look-out post of the Environment (ONEM). 

This ecosystem already weakened by the dry climatic conditions and which undergoes various anthropological pressures, has to be the object of a scientific debate; what we propose in this colloquium.

The research team «Science of the Climate, Water, the Environment and the Patrimony "of the FSTE of UMI (Morocco).

This scientific demonstration establishes a contribution of the FSTE. (UMI) to the celebration of this international year of deserts and desertification.

This multi-field international colloquium which will take place 14, 15, 16 and September 17th at the Faculty of Science and Techniques of Errachidia (Morocco), Will understand several demonstrations implying multiple partnerships, so much in the local, national scale, the regional and world.

The speakers and the guests will come from different Moroccan and foreign academic circles (Universities, Centres and Institutes of research and development, etc.), of administrations or still various local, national and international non-governmental organisations. 

Further to the historic speech of HIS MAJESTY KING MOHAMED VI of May 18th, 2005, Morocco is engaged, in an ambitious project aiming at the good human being in our country: the National Initiative of Human Development (INDH). This colloquium would not know how to find a  better occasion to take part modestly in this big company.
